Karl Andriessen (PhD, MSuicidology, BSW) is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Mental Health and Community Wellbeing, Melbourne School of Population and Global Health, The University of Melbourne, Australia. He has a broad interest in suicide research with a major focus on suicide bereavement and postvention, including impact of suicide on individuals and communities, barriers and facilitators to help-seeking, and evaluation of service delivery in this field. He has published widely including the go-to volume “Postvention in action: The international handbook on suicide bereavement support” (2017, Hogrefe). Recipient of the IASP Farberow Postvention Award, and Co-Chair of the IASP SIG on Suicide Bereavement and Postvention.
