Alja Videtič Paska (PhD) is a Senior Research Fellow and Professor at the Centre for Functional Genomics and Bio-Chips, Institute of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics, Faculty of Medicine, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Her research focuses on the molecular genetic and epigenetic mechanisms of suicidality, with particular emphasis on alterations in DNA methylation patterns, microRNA expression profiles, and histone modifications. She has authored numerous publications in international peer-reviewed journals and, in 2021, co-edited and co-authored the most comprehensive book on suicide in Slovenia, Suicide in Slovenia and Worldwide: Definition, Research, Prevention, and Management. She is a recipient of the ESSSB Andrej Marušič Prize. In her pedagogical activities, she contributes as a lecturer and mentor for undergraduate and graduate students.
