From his extensive clinical work with suicidal patients Konrad Michel developed a person- centred understanding of the suicidal mind. His key message is: Suicide is not caused by a mental disorder, it is an action which makes sense to the person. Together with others he developed ASSIP, a brief, effective therapy for patients who attempt suicide.
